From the trails of Ladysmith, Vancouver Island to the mountains and beyond, Logan has always been driven by a passion for adventure and storytelling. With years of experience instructing mountain biking and snowboarding, he discovered the impact of helping others build confidence and push their limits outdoors. Now an Adventure Studies diploma student, Logan is expanding his guiding skills while working toward a future that blends adventure leadership with filmmaking — capturing meaningful stories that inspire others to get outside and experience the natural world.
Tell us a little about yourself — where you’re from, what you’re passionate about, maybe a fun fact, or anything else you’d like to share.
My name is Logan Steel, and I grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island called Ladysmith. I’m passionate about sharing a love for adventure and the outdoors through both guiding and filmmaking. I love inspiring people to get outside, try new things, and experience life to the fullest.
Fun Fact: I spent several years instructing mountain biking and snowboarding.
What drew you to this program, and what are you most looking forward to this year?
After years of instructing, I realized how much I enjoyed helping others progress and seeing the confidence grow with every run. When I discovered the Adventure Studies program, it felt like the perfect opportunity to expand my knowledge of guiding and adventure sports. I’m most looking forward to building new skills, pushing my limits, and learning from both instructors and classmates with similar passions.
What drew you to this program, and what are you most looking forward to this year?
After completing the program, I hope to continue building a career that blends adventure guiding with filmmaking. I want to use my skills to tell meaningful stories that inspire people to explore the outdoors responsibly. Ultimately, I’d love to create adventure films that showcase both the beauty of the natural world and the people experiencing it.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to Adventure Studies?
If you’re thinking about applying, I’d say definitely go for it. You gain valuable real-world skills, grow a ton as a person, and build incredibly strong connections with like-minded people. It’s an experience that’s 100% worth it and something you’ll carry with you long after the program ends.
