The TRU Adventure Studies Department is excited to launch Pathways to Adventure, a dynamic new course delivery designed for aspiring outdoor enthusiasts eager to build skills, gain experience, and prepare for a future in adventure. This unique course delivery bundles lower-level adventure skills courses, allowing students to gain hands-on experience while working toward their future in the adventure industry.

By combining coursework with real-world field experience, students can meet the entrance requirements for the Adventure Guide Certificate program while making valuable connections within the adventure community.

Is Pathways to Adventure right for you?

This is the ideal pathway for you if you:

  • Are a high school student in Kamloops, B.C.
  • Do not meet the minimum age requirement (19) for the Adventure Guide Certificate.
  • Are a current TRU student interested in adventure sports and outdoor leadership.
  • Wish to transfer credits into diploma or degree studies.

Dual credit option for SD 73 students

High school students in School District No. 73 can take Pathways to Adventure skills courses while completing their secondary education.

How it works: Grade 12 students can receive funding for one course per semester (up to four credits), equivalent to two skills courses. These credits can be applied as electives toward the Adventure Guide Certificate at TRU.
