Meet Max, an Adventure Studies student from Kelowna, BC, whose passion for skiing, climbing, and spending time in the mountains made TRU an easy choice. With a love for outdoor adventure and an eye on becoming a professional mountain guide, Max is embracing every opportunity to learn, explore, and grow—both in and outside the classroom.
Tell us a little about yourself — where you’re from, what you’re passionate about, maybe a fun fact, or anything else you’d like to share.
I’m born and raised in Kelowna, BC. I love to ski, climb and spend time in the mountains.
Fun fact: I can snowboard surprisingly well for a skier.
What drew you to this program, and what are you most looking forward to this year?
This program caught my eye when I realized that my university classroom could be outside majority of the time. I am most looking forward to Ski Tour 1 and Rock 2 with all my friends.
What do you hope to do with your training after completing the program?
After this program, I hope to pursue my ACMG rock, ski, and alpine certifications to eventually become a full IFMGA mountain guide.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to Adventure Studies?
My advice to anyone thinking of applying to this program is to just do it. There are so many awesome people here. This program rocks!
